Hello!

I’m after a long-lasting but light coverage foundation with a semi-matte finish. Something that will look good in office lighting and look natural. I have light-medium skin with pink undertones. Thanks!

  • The staff at David Jones and Mecca can do patch tests to find your best colour match and sometimes they will give you a little sample to take home and try.

  • I am pale and have spent so much money trying o find good foundations; these are my favourites;

    MAC Studio Fix- A great semi-matte medium coverage foundation. Perfect for all day wear, it’s buildable and won’t budge. As it is semi-matte I always make sure I prep my skin well so it doesn’t on smoothly.

    Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation- Lighter weight than the MAC but still buildable a great shade range. I use this in the winter when my skin is paler and I want something a little more moisturising.

    Not a foundation but for when I want a light coverage I just use NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer as my base. A little goes a long way, so I just put a few dots on my more problems areas and blend with a beauty blender, it creates a flawless base and is better than their actual foundation imo. It dries matte but doesnt sink into the pores or fine lines.

  • Ive actually been using a BB cream with a setting powder over the top and that works well for me.
    I do agree with others about going to stores like Myer and Mecca and asking either to be colour matched and/or if you can have samples.

  • Mac is definitely a good option to try but i would honestly go and talk to some of the beauty counters and see if you can get a number of samples to try. I find this the best way to see if a foundation is right for you. Places like Sophera, Mecca and Myer will give you samples to try.

  • Thanks all, I find Colorstay a little heavy but yes it lasts! I’ll look at Mac and Fenty 🙂

  • I used to buy a different foundation every single time I bought one because I was always looking for something better.
    Then one day someone with gorgeous makeup told me all she ever uses is revlon products.
    I figured she always looked great so why not try them. I haven’t looked back. I love the revlon colour stay foundation. It lasts all day, it looks natural not cakey, I’ve been using it for years

  • I need to read these replies and maybe have a change. I’ve been stuck on my foundation for decades and it’s not as good as it used to be.

  • I lovvvve Fenty powder foundation. Applied on its own it gives lovely natural coverage, but if I use concealer and build it up it can be great for full cover. Worth keeping an eye on sales

  • I personally like brands like Mac for foundation, they have a great range from light, sheer to more medium and full coverage. Their colour selection is one of the best ive found that can cater to more skin tones. Worth getting some samples to try before you commit! As your skin type would be a factor too
