Hello!

I get my fingernails done and when I’m there I see people getting pedicures but I’ve never had one myself. Are they any good? I can’t do my fingernails myself but I could probably do a pedicure so am wondering if anyone recommends them?
I saw them using a scraper of some kind on a lady’s feet and wondered how effective it was at making your feet soft etc?

  • I hate other people touching my feet but I feel so good after a pedicure that I just cringe and bear it. I can’t bend my knees as I used to after knee replacements so I really love having someone tend to this. I’ve had hit & miss with ones that scrub my feet and remove dry skin but love it when it’s a good one.

  • I cant fathom the thought of someone touching my feet! It just makes me so uncomfortable hahaha. But also yes to the hygiene thing as well! I’d be so scared of getting an infection or something from the water or tools they use

  • Wowza! Some great information here about the hygiene safety! I have never actually been there when someone has finished to see if they clean the water and disinfect everything well! I think I’m second guessing wanting to try one now 🤣 might just stick with home pedicures

  • I have a foot spa with all the tools and lotions at home that I use semi regular. Does that count?

  • I always feel uncomfortable with the idea of them popping my feet into the tub as im such a hygiene freak! I know they clean and replace bags etc, but just the idea of them and the tools they use. I hear so many horror stories on infections!! I’d keep doing them myself

  • I absolutely love a pedi. They get my cuticles looking so nice. The scraper does work but it’s a pretty full on tool to use on your skin. If I have one I only go to really high end spas that won’t reuse files and thoroughly disinfect everything, I’ve heard some scary stories about lax hygiene practices.

  • They are not for me at all.
I cant stand people touching my feet so I would be jumping about all over the place.

I dont get my fingernails done either and much prefer to do my own as I find that getting them done professionally makes my nails very brittle. I am always receiving positive comments on how lovely my nails are and they have always been long and strong but if anyone else touches them they will break within days.
