  • If your nails are starting off weak to begin with, i would trim them first to allow the new growth to come out and give you a more healthy nail. I’d avoid doing fake nails where they buff away your nails as this is the key to having weak nail beds. Look at things like cuticle oils and such that can also aid.

  • I could do with some nail help too, so I am loving these suggestions.

  • Keep them trimmed and filed so there is no risk of breakages. Mosturise, push your cuticles back, protect with a clear nail hardener. Always wear gloves when washing up and gardening etc.

  • Maintenance is key. I dont do mani/pedis but i do moisturise my hands daily and have a regular trim. You would think it does the opposite cutting them, but it means they arent going frail or having a chip turn into a bigger nail getting broken because i left it.

  • Essie almond cuticle oil was a game changer for me! And a lush, thick hand lotion. L’occitane hand lotion if you want to splurge, or the pink bottle Vaseline Intensive hand lotion if you want a really good supermarket option

  • Oh I hope there’s lots a replies to this one. My nails are getting to a certain length, not long, and they split and break. So frustrating

  • I agree with the poster below. Try some of the skin and nails vitamins. There are various brands available.
Failing that you might just have to stick with the falsies.
I do think that sometimes its just genetics. I have always had long and strong nails and get that from my mother.

  • B vitamins! A strong protective nail coat and some quality cuticle oil
