Hello!

Does anyone use gel nail polish at home!? I almost accidentally purchased it for my girls for Christmas but thankfully saw that you need a uv light to dry it. I wanted the gel because I’ve heard it lasts longer but someone said if it doesn’t get cured properly it can be dangerous?!?

  • My daughter, 16, bought the Gel Nail kit from Priceline. She’s got the whole gel nail process down-pat now and has even done my nails a few times. They always turn out great! There is a UV light machine which is to dry or cure the nail polish. It’s best not to look at it during the UV activation process. The gel nails last about 3 weeks then they start to peel away at the edges.

  • I find it is just way to hard to get off and worry it is doing more damage.

  • I haven’t heard any risks from it, but then again I haven’t actually looked into it. We all used to use UV lamps and gels growing up, you can buy really nice at home set ups. It just became too time consuming for me

  • I dont but i tend to stay away from things that require UV lights etc. it just isnt worth the health risk just so nail polish can last a bit longer.

  • Im like you and not very clued up on gel nail polish but I also understqand that it does require the UV Light to set properly. Ive not heard that it could then be dangerous.
You could perhaps ask at a nail salon.

  • I should also mention my girls are 17 and 20 so not little kids or anything, but still want it to be safe for them to use
