Hello!

Has anyone found a great moisturiser for kids with sensitive skin? I have tried several but struggle to find one that my daughter is comfortable with and doesn’t irrigate her skin. I have tried everything from QV, E45, Moo Goo etc but wondered if anyone has come across a brand that really stood out for them.

  • My kids are teenagers and love the CereVe and La Roche Posay brands. My son gets eczema and my daughter, some mild acne. They haven’t had any irritations or reactions to either brands. Chemist Warehouse have samples to take home and try but you need to specifically ask for them.

  • I used to love Gaia. I used on both of my kids when they were babies and it smells amazing and gave great results for dry skin. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be fine to use on older kids too.

  • Sorbolene cream is highly underrated! I don’t know why it’s hardly seen on the shelves these days. It’s an excellent moisturiser and barrier cream. I love the Redwin brand but they are all formulated much the same.

  • Like you i have tried plenty of these recommended brands for my kids over the years. Everyone including the medical staff always vote QV first but i found this didnt help dry skin as much as id hope. Ive since switched to cerave and find it much more hydrating and lasting on the skin. Emollients are great too

  • Omg! I feel your pain! My daughter reacts to everything! We did a skin allergy patch test to help us figure out the key ingredients we needed to avoid and we found they were in a lot of sunscreens so we have to pick really carefully. We purchase Cetaphil for her. The whole range has been fine for her. I hope it goes well for you too!

  • I agree with the posts below that QV and Cetaphil are great brands but if your child has sensitive skin it might be best not to use anything. Obviously she is reacting to something thats in the products and unless you can narrow it down and work out what it is she reacts to it might be best just to leave her be.
As a child I had really bad eczema and anything like bubble bath, oils or lotions drove me insane with itching.

  • I’ve always loved the QV brand on kids. One grandson has very sensitive skin through allergies and it has always been best for him.

  • I would recommend Redwin’s Sorbolene cream. Very affordable and good for the whole family.

  • We love the Cetaphil range for both adults and baby. My toddler had very sensitive skin as a newborn and their products were wonderful.

  • I used to work in a Health food shop and the Naturopath’s would regularly recommend Weleda to clients and their kids with skin sensitive. Their Sensitive Range (providing she’s ok with nuts as some contain almonds) might be something to look into, especially if she wants something less medical-looking, they come in a cute pink tubes and bottles.
