Hands up if you went a little too hard on your brows in the 90’s or 00’s (we’ve all been there!). Overplucked eyebrows can leave you feeling like your face has lost its natural frame, and loss of brow confidence is a real thing!

The good news? Full, healthy brows can make a comeback. You just need the right approach and a little bit of patience. Here’s how I guide my clients through fixing overplucked brows the right way.

1. Step away from the tweezers

How many of us pick up the tweezers weekly? We know it’s tempting to keep plucking those strays, but this is the number one reason brows don’t grow back. You need to give the hairs at least 8–12 weeks of freedom so your hair growth cycle has a chance to reset.

At your first visit, we ask you to grow your brows as much as possible, let them grow so we can see all your hair growth. Only then do we remove those stray hairs, targeting them and removing them at the same time allows the regrowth to potentially grow again at the same time in the cycle. This offers cleaner brows for longer.

Tip: if the strays really bother you, make a booking with a professional so that nothing important gets taken away. You should only need to see your Brow Artist every 4+ weeks.

2. Nourish and encourage growth

Just like the hair on your head, your brows (and lashes) need love; brow hair needs conditioning. You wouldn’t wash, colour and blow-dry your hair without conditioning it, would you? No. It’s the same for your brows. Brow hairs are fragile and so much fewer, they need conditioning too – and, more so if you have brow treatments.

To maintain hair growth, strength and health, brow hairs need serum. Not just any serum, it must be a conditioning, nourishing growth serum (like KE Lash & Brow Serum) which conditions and strengthens your brows so they can grow back thicker and healthier.

A quick nightly massage and brush with a spoolie around your brows also helps stimulate blood flow and wakes up any lazy follicles.

And don’t forget the inside-out approach: foods rich in iron, biotin and omega-3s all help support hair growth too.

3. Fake it while you make it

No one wants to feel “brow-less” while waiting for overplucked eyebrows to grow back. That’s where good styling products come into play. A soft brow pencil for extra hair strokes, or brow styling soap to hold them up, and a little highlight pencil under the brow bone makes such a difference.

4. Consider ‘Happiness for Eyebrows’ for brow health

Considered highly beneficial, Brow Gold is the most popular brow treatment in Russia and Europe, where it’s known as “Happiness for Eyebrows.”

Known for regenerating the eyebrows. It’s a treatment for restoring the natural structure, deeply moisturising, thickening and nourishing the brows from the inside out. It delivers an instant transformation of the eyebrows, which leaves brows feeling incredibly silky and rejuvenated.

The treatment can be performed on both brows and lashes and has a cumulative effect, with each subsequent visit adding 10% in volume and density. The ingredients include biotin, highly concentrated provitamin B5, cardamom, acai berry extract, amino acids and vitamin E.

5. Be patient! (I promise, it’s worth it)

Brow growth takes time. Everybody is different, and it can take a few months before you notice changes. But with the right care, consistency, and a little expert guidance, fuller brows will happen.

Your future brows will thank you!

Have you ever been guilty of overplucking? Leave us a comment below!

  • My brows have never recovered from my teens and early 20s. Fortunately I have always had a fringe which covers my almost non-existent brows.

  • Yes me! It’s good to know that there is hope for me. Lately, I’ve been letting my eyebrows grow. It’s been hard not to tamper with them, I won’t lie. And I’ve even resorted to using an eyebrow pencil to shape, define and fill in the gaps in the meantime. I never knew that you could buy an eyebrow serum. I’ll need to invest in one and show my brows some much needed TLC.

  • I don’t think it’s a coincidence how many girlies I know that grew up in the era of extremely over plucked eye brows and now have them tattooed on. My sister believes her brows never fully recovered from the 2000’s thin brow craze. I’d love to get mine tattooed, I always forget to use brow gel and it would rule that out, but they say it sounds like ripping carpet. I don’t think I could stand it

  • Back in the 80’s – 90’s I had my brows (and lashes) a couple of times coloured and treated by a brow specialist, but ever since not any more. In fact I don’t pay any attention to my brows; I never pluck, brush, condition them or treat them with serum. I just let them have the natural look and am happy with that.

  • Brow Rejuvenation sounds lush! I would love some extra TLC on my brows. I’ve seen great results from giving my brows a break if I went a little hard on the shaping. These days I use a facial razor for weekly maintenance. That way I’m only getting the baby hairs, while the structural ones stay safely above my eyes.

  • I over plucked my eyebrows for many years. It took a long time to grow them back and shape them to how I went

  • I used to always go with the Brooke Shileds look and I was too scared to start plucking in case it all went wrong. Now brows are more full thankgoodness and I fit right in. My brows are very pale so I have to add colour to them for them to be seen.

  • Gosh i can remember those days when people used to over pluck and have the thinnest brows of all time! And now people love and embrace their fuller brows and im definitely here for that! Im glad i never over did it growing up as now I find my brows have quite a decent shape
